No doubt 2020 was a challenging year. Our world as we knew it was turned upside down. Businesses were closing, people lost their jobs, and the unemployment rate was at an all-time high.
It’s tough and I totally get it.
Some things are just out of our control. And it SUCKS!
BUT! …
What if we decided to take control of the one thing, we do have control over and make a conscious effort to change it?

Have you ever heard the saying “When one door closes another door will open”?
Sometimes it’s a blessing in disguise!
This actually happened to me. Remember back in 2008 when the recession hit?
I had just gone through surgery for my first hip replacement and at the same time, my decorative painting business hit a brick wall. NO BUSINESS. Ugh!
Also, I had to short sell my home, went bankrupt, move to another town, and move in with a friend. This was the first time in my life I ever had a roommate.
Here I was 50 years old, I had No job and No money.
It was a humbling experience, to say the least.
I spent seven months looking for a job. Believe me, it’s not easy finding a job when you’re 50 years old. I finally took the first thing (selling Ads in a phone directory) that was offered to me and had to work for $600 a month plus commissions. Less than a year later, I was laid off. I was back to square one. Seriously, can it get any worse?
What I learned in that season of my life was I had to take control of my own destiny.
I could either work for someone else and squeak by life or I could take my God-Given talent and build a business doing what I love. If you’ve been following me for any length of time you know the road I chose.
Fast forward to today. I now have a thriving painting business, created 6 additional streams of income from my painting business (watch my videos on YouTube), and started teaching other creatives how to do the same.
If you lost your job and found yourself unemployed or you can’t find a job because of your age (50+) there IS a way to change your circumstances.
Listen, YOU are a smart and talented woman. YOU have so much to offer the world. YOU can create a successful business.
One of the easiest ways is to do something you love. That could include painting furniture, making crafts, crocheting, baking, playing an instrument, makeup artistry, and so much more.
