There are three things that most new entrepreneurs are doing that are killing their businesses; costly mistakes that should be avoided at all costs.

I can say with full transparency each of the three things I’m about to share with you, I have fallen victim to as well, and it held me back from growing my business.

#1: I don’t spend hours a day on my social media platforms

Have you ever gone on your Facebook or Instagram page and realized two hours had passed you by?

Scrolling through your social media platforms is Unproductive and a Time Sucker.

Yes! You need to be on social media to help build and grow your business, but you shouldn’t spend more than 30 minutes daily on social media.

The time you’re spending scrolling through everyone else’s posts, watching silly Reels, and reading posts that have nothing to do with your business is a waste of time.

To manage your time, put a time limit on how long you’re on your platforms. I spend 15 minutes in the morning and later in the afternoon checking my DM’s, responding to comments, and a few minutes posting my content. Use your time to build your business, not watch everyone else build theirs.

If you treat your social media platforms like a business tool instead of a chat room or an amusement park, your business will grow exponentially.

#2: I don’t fall into the comparison trap

Don’t compare your first year in business to someone else’s 10th year in business. Remember, they were where you’re at 10 years ago. It takes consistency, patience, and self-discipline to build a business! Don’t compare yourself to everyone else.

Give yourself grace even when you make mistakes! The mistakes you make are what help you grow and learn. Embrace the process and enjoy the journey.

#3: I don’t expect my business to grow overnight

There is no such thing as overnight success….

Building a successful business takes time to build a business. When you see people on TV or social media that say they became an overnight success, that is a lie. They all started at the begging (just like you and I) and worked to get where they’re at today.

No one wakes up in the morning and instantly becomes a celebrity or a social media influencer with a million-dollar bank account.  If it were that easy, everyone would be successful.  The way to find success is to keep chasing your dreams and never give up.
