Did you know that YOU can train the Instagram algorithm to work to your advantage?
This is a great little hack very few people know about.
So, in a nutshell here’s how it works. The new algorithm dictates the order of the posts that the users see as they are scrolling on their feed. It selects the most relevant posts and gives them more visibility.
You see, the Instagram Algorithm is designed to keep you on the app as long as possible, so you are consuming more content. This is what helps them with AD spending. It’s like when I worked in TV, the longer people watched a network the better the ratings, the better the ratings the more we charged for Ads, and the more customers we had buying AD space. Get the big picture. ??
So if you want to stay on top of your game and take advantage and get your content in the right places try this:
#1: Be intentional with your engagement
Keep in mind, Instagram knows everything you do. That means every time you like, comment etc on other people’s post they see it. This tells Instagram “I want to see more of this because you are interacting with it.”
When you randomly like and comment on everything and anything you do two things that will hurt you.
?First, you are wasting your time on people that have zero interest in your business and will never buy from you and more importantly you’re avoiding your ideal client or customer.
?Second, you’re sending the wrong message to the algorithm.
#2 Only follow accounts that will help your algorithm
The follow/unfollow method is NOT a smart way to find your tribe! Here’s a blog I wrote about Follow/Unfollow: you really should read this.
You won’t engage with them, and they won’t engage with you either! So why waste your time.
Here’s who you should be following:
?Your Ideal Client
? People in your industry
?Accounts that motivate or inspire you
Train the algorithm and tell it who your core audience is.
#3 Consistency! Consistency! Consistency!
I know you hear this all the time but it’s true, if you can help the algorithm get used to your posting schedule then it will be able to showcase your content accordingly.
Here are 3 things you can do consistently……..
?Don’t post every day. When you post too much you begin to compete with your own posts in the algorithm! Only post 2-3 times a week.
?Post when your followers are most likely to see your post.
? Post at the same time in all your posts
So how do you know when to post and what time? Check your analytics. You must have a business account to do this. Here’s a blog that shows you how to read your analytics: When is the best time to post on Instagram
